During the peak of the Vietnam War when the USA had its most horrific casualties and many Vietnamese died too in May, 1968, Lyndon Johnson on May 31, 1968 was lounging around in a wildflower field of brown-eyed susans with Hollywood actor Gregory Peck – 11,947 American soldiers in Vietnam were hospitalized in one month alone

Huge amounts of Vietnamese civilians and soldiers were also killed and grievously wounded during May, 1968.
